DC’s Stargirl series finale features two endings in the event of an overtime

The good news: DC’s StargirlThe third season/series finale will offer a “beautiful conclusion,” says star Brec Bassinger.

The sad news? Season 4’s storyline would have been nothing less than “insanely” good.

In a new clip (above) from the next episode of the Wayne Ayers Podcast (out Wednesday, November 16), Bassinger says that with so many changes at The CW and Warner Bros. Discovery, star girl Showrunner Geoff Johns “went the extra mile and shot two different endings” for the finale, which was filmed in mid-March, “because he didn’t want to leave fans with all these question marks.”

Bassinger says the unused, cliffhanger-esque ending could end up on a DVD set, and while she hopes so, she warns, “It’s going to make people sad because that’s the idea of season four insane. Like, it would have been epic. And I actually think that’s why it took so long for us to officially get the cancellation news, because Geoff came in with such a wonderful idea… But it shouldn’t be.”

Bassinger shared in a previous podcast excerpt that she “found this out in May star girl may not be picked up for a fourth season,” concluded nearly two months after Season 3 began filming. “I actually flew to an event for star girl when i got the message But other than that, it wasn’t safe.”

As such, “The next few months … became this emotional roller coaster of ‘Yeah, I think it’s going to be picked up’ or ‘Oh no, we’re applying to another streaming service…'” Bassinger said. “It just became this emotional roller coaster ride.”
