Delta Incident Today: Passenger on a flight from LA to Seattle who was arrested shortly before takeoff after opening the emergency exit door

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A passenger on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Seattle was arrested Saturday for allegedly opening an emergency exit door just before the plane took off.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Los Angeles International Airport.

In a statement to Eyewitness News, Delta said the passenger opened one of the plane’s emergency exit doors and slid down the evacuation slide as the plane prepared to taxi.

The passenger was arrested by Los Angeles Airport Police and taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The plane to Seattle eventually returned to its gate and all other passengers were rebooked on another flight.
