Dem strategist predicts doom for Democrats in November — unless they can move the needle with one last lifeline

According to longtime Democratic strategist Doug Sosnik, unless they can move the needle on a key issue, the Democratic Party’s fate is sealed.
What does Sosnik say?
Sosnik, who served as political director to former President Bill Clinton and has advised countless Democratic politicians, wrote in a new memo obtained from Politico that the Democrats are doomed this November.
Her only salvation, Sosnik suggested, is abortion.
“The recent leak of a draft Supreme Court ruling overthrowing Roe v. Wade is Democrats’ best and probably last hope to change the outcome of the 2022 midterm election,” wrote Sosnik. “Unless the forthcoming court decision changes the current political dynamic, we will look back to the events between July and early November of last year as the period that determined the outcome of this election cycle.”
The events that sealed the Democrats’ fate, according to Sosnik, were:
- The Biden administration gave the “false impression that the COVID-19 battle was won” and then doubled down on restrictions
- The “disastrous withdrawal” from Afghanistan
- The economic downturn that began in late summer 2021 accelerated last fall and exploded this spring
- Last fall’s dispute over the Infrastructure Act and Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, which “reinforced the impression that Biden and the Democrats were big financiers who were unfit to govern.”
- Republican electoral success in off-year elections in Virginia and New Jersey last November
So what about abortion?
Since the president’s approval rating is “the best indicator of determining the current level of support for the party in power,” Sosnik said, Sosnik said the proverbial fat lady is already singing unless Democrats successfully rewrite the abortion issue formulated.
“Unless they can reformulate the terms of the midterm election debate around the upcoming Supreme Court decision on Roe, we will look back to the failings of Biden and the Democrats last summer and early fall as reasons for their electoral defeats this November “, predicted Sosnik.
Democrats are already working overtime to restate the issue, to have an abortion “physical autonomy”. Only Democrats (yes, the same people who have supported vaccination mandates) believe in physical autonomy, so the narrative goes, while Republicans want to control you.
Still, polls show that a majority of Americans overwhelmingly support abortion restrictionssuggesting that the upcoming Supreme Court abortion decision will not impact the electorate enough to help Democrats overcome their growing unpopularity.
