Deputy dies after shooting himself at Mabel’s Roadhouse in Santa Clarita

SAUGUS, Calif. (KABC)– A congressman has died after shooting himself in a bar in Santa Clarita, Eyewitness News has learned.
Authorities say the incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. at Mabel’s Roadhouse on Block 26300 of Bouquet Canyon Road. The deputy was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The department said the deputy was off duty at the time. His death is classified as a suicide.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna was at the Santa Clarita Valley Station Friday morning to speak with deputies, sources tell ABC7.
The bar released a brief statement on social media:
“Last night/early morning there was an incident at Mabel’s. Our hearts go out for this young man’s family and the grief he must endure. Please seek advice if you or someone you know is in crisis.”
