DeSantis speaks in the city hit by Hurricane Idalia a day after the President’s visit to Florida

YANKEETOWN, Fla. (WFLA) – Gov. Ron DeSantis holds a news conference at the Yankeetown Water Plant days after Hurricane Idalia made landfall in the Big Bend region.

DeSantis will be accompanied by the state’s Secretary of Commerce, Alex Kelly.

The Desantis press conference comes the day after President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Sen. Rick Scott held at Live Oak to express federal support for Florida. DeSantis was not present at this event.

“As I told your governor, if your state needs anything, I stand ready to mobilize that support,” Joe Biden continued. “Everything you need in connection with these storms. “Your nation has your back and we will be by your side until the job is done.”

We’ll be streaming DeSantis’ press conference once it begins at around 12:15 p.m
