week 1

Step 1 – Collect Traces of Terror

Dread Remnants is the new seasonal currency for Season 17. It is earned by completing playlist activities as well as activities related to the new seasonal content. For example, you get Traces of Terror by completing Nightmare Containments on the Leviathan.

The very first step of Destiny 2 Bound in Sorrow is to collect 500 of these guys. You can do this in a number of ways, but I recommend it Complete Nightmare Containments. You get 500 within three or four runs, and the next phase of the quest continues with that.

Step 2 – Create a Bound Presence

Once you have 500 Traces of Terror, Bound in Sorrow will ask you to create a Bound Presence. This requires you to complete all three levels of a Nightmare Containment, then interact with the Nightmare Harvester to convert the terror into a bound presence. This will likely be the gameplay loop every week going forward, so get used to it.

Step 3 – Complete Sever – Too bad

Sever is our new weekly quest for Season 18 – meaning you’ll likely need to do this every week as part of Bound in Sorrow. This week’s variation is called Sever – Shame, so we’ll likely have a handful of different variations rotating weekly.

Sever – Shame is not too difficult to complete. If you’ve done Presage, it’s similar. Follow your objective markers, look for things to shoot at, and you’ll make it to the other side of this mission.

Step 4 – Date Crow

After completing Sever – Shame you’re pretty much done with Bound in Sorrow for this week. Go back to the HELM and talk to Crow about the rather harrowing experience he went through on the Leviathan.

Step 5 – Talk to Eris at the Crown of Sorrows

When you’re done with Crow, just go to the Crown of Sorrows in the HELM’s left wing. Speak to Eris there, and she’ll give you an overview of what’s going on before asking you to wait and bind nightmares inside the Leviathan in the meantime.
