Diablo 4 is free to play this weekend, but only on Xbox

Here we are, about four months after the release of Diablo 4, and Blizzard is hosting the game’s first-ever free trial. However, it is only available on a single platform, Xbox.
The trial version is now available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. However, you can only play the game for ten hours.

This free trial of Diablo 4 is accessible to everyone, as it is not part of the Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) Free Play Days promotion that is currently running alongside it. However, the trial version is only available until Sunday, October 22nd 11:59 p.m. PT / 2:59 a.m. ET (October 23) / 7:59 a.m. BST (October 23).).
The ten-hour trial has no other restrictions and your progress will carry over to the full game if you decide to purchase. In keeping with the free weekend, all three editions of the game are also on offer. To get the trial, visit the Diablo 4 store page on your Xbox or via the Xbox Store website.
The timing of this action is of course very conscious. Diablo 4 has just launched its second season of content – Season of Blood, which arrives alongside a huge list of much-requested quality of life changes, a major class/system rebalancing, new ways to target farming gear, new bosses – and… Of course all the new content from the second season.
There is currently no sign that Diablo 4 will appear on Game Pass now that Microsoft officially owns Activision Blizzard, at least not this year. However, things will change in 2024, but it remains to be seen how many of the studio’s games will be immediately available on Game Pass.
