Dismembered body found: Human remains in Deep Fork River belong to missing Oklahoma men, Okmulgee Police Department says

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma– Four Oklahoma men, last seen riding bikes more than a week ago, were shot and dismembered, police said Monday, and one man believed to be a person of interest has since disappeared.

Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice said the bodies found in the Deep Fork River late last week were those of four missing friends: Mark Chastain, 32, Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Alex Stevens (29).

The men are believed to have exited a home in Okmulgee with bicycles on the evening of October 9. The police chief said the official cause of death was still unknown, but all four men had gunshot wounds and their bodies had been dismembered.

Police questioned a man who owns a scrap yard in the area on Friday, but that man has since been reported missing and may be having suicidal thoughts, Prentice said. No charges were brought.

The bodies were discovered on Friday after a passerby saw something suspicious in the river near a bridge, police said. The bikes have not yet been found, Prentice said.

The men were all from Okmulgee, which is about 40 miles south of Tulsa and has a population of around 11,000.
