Doctor Who reveals a first look at Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor

As soon as a new doctor is announced, Doctor Who Fans immediately start thinking… what will they wear? Each incarnation of the Time Lord has its own distinctive sense of style, from the geek chic of David Tennant and Matt Smith to the fashion outrages of Colin Baker’s multicolored coat. Finally, with Season 14 production officially underway, our first look at Ncuti Gatwa in costume as the Fifteenth Doctor has been revealed.

The BBC gave fans an early Christmas present this Saturday by sharing two reimagined images of Gatwa and his time-traveling companion Millie Gibson, who plays Ruby Sunday, the Doctor’s new best friend. Gatwa wears a brown plaid suit with a bright orange t-shirt.

This behind-the-scenes look offers a closer look at Gatwa’s jewelry, which promises his doctor really knows how to make accessories.

Do you hear that clicking sound? It’s the sound of every single Whovian changing their lock screen…

All in all, fans are reacting very positively to the packaging, although some might have been expecting something even more eccentric given Gatwa’s personal tastes.

When Gatwa teased what we might expect from his costume last summer, Gatwa confirmed that he would have a huge say in what he wears while battling Daleks and such, so fans can rest assured that he contributed to the selection of this clothing. This is traditional, as all modern Doctors have contributed to her character’s costuming, from Matt Smith, who suggests he wears a bow tie, to David Tennant, who requests that he wear a large coat.

Unfortunately, it will be a while before we see the 15th Doctor in action Doctor Who won’t return to our screens until its 60th anniversary next November.
