Does Mitsuri die in Demon Slayer?

Warning: Demon Hunter Manga spoilers up to chapter 200 and for 205 at the end
If you’re like me and can’t sit still and wait patiently between seasons, you’ve decided to look into Koyoharu Gotouge Demon Hunter To find out how the story ends in the manga, you surely know that the final story arc (if you consider the “Infinity Castle” and “Sunrise Countdown” storylines to be the same) has no cold at all. By the time you get to this point, Rengoku’s death is a bit of a distant memory. No one – neither the main nor the supporting characters – died in the “Entertainment District” arc or in the “Swordsmith Village” arc. Therefore, one may have felt a subconscious feeling of security in the last part of the story. Big mistake. Any false sense of security could only lead to a rude awakening.
If, like me, you really liked most of Hashira, the final arc is the equivalent of an emotional defeat. Tragically, most of the highest-ranking demon slayers can no longer tell the story of how they helped defeat Muzan Kibutsuji. Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira and a widely revered character in the fan community, especially after the release of the animated adaptation of the Swordsmith Village arc, is among those who sacrifice their lives for the cause, and her death is arguably one of the most emotional.
In another life I will be your bride
Mitsuri Kanroji, like many of her Hashira colleagues, dies from the injuries she sustained in the fight against Muzan. Luckily she’s still alive and sees the Demon King’s defeat – so to speak, he’s playing one last desperate card after she’s already gone, but that doesn’t get him very far.
If we have to find a silver lining to Mitsuri’s death, it is in Chapter 200 of the Manga, she dies in Obanai Iguro’s arms. She and the snake Hashira, who dies with her, manage to express their adoration for each other before the end. Mitsuri tearfully asks him if she can be his bride if they are reincarnated as humans in their next life – something she has always dreamed of. Obanai, the first and only time we see him cry, agrees and tells her that he will make sure she is happy and that no harm will come to her if he gets the chance to do it all again.
Gotouge must have felt at least a little bit sorry for the fans, because Chapter 205 is a bold attempt to bring it to a close. It shows on a single plaque that, as they promised each other before their deaths, Mitsuri and Obanai were reincarnated in modern-day Tokyo, married, and together owned a restaurant with snake decor and huge portions.
