His life was huge and full of accomplishments, from his career as a young teenage megastar to enlisting in the Army and then back to stardom where he made films that went on to chart hit hits and then headlined his own show in Las Vegas before he breathed his last in 1977 when Lisa Marie was only nine years old. That’s a lot of glitz to fit into such a short life, and his daughter grew up not really knowing her father beyond what her mother taught her and the headlines written about him.

Dolly Parton was once approached by Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker about her song “I Will Always Love You”. She eventually turned down the deal, but only because she was a savvy businesswoman. It had nothing to do with Elvis himself, just that it wasn’t business wise.
