Dolly Parton pays heartfelt tribute to the Presley family following the death of Lisa Marie
The news hit fans hard when they found out Lisa Marie Presleys sudden death from cardiac arrest. She was only 54 years old, and cardiac arrest seems to be an all too common cause of death lately. As fans feel lost and need words to help the healing process, Dolly Parton found and they are exactly what everyone needed.
Elvis Presley also died at a young age as he passed away at the age of 42. His life was huge and full of accomplishments, from his career as a young teenage megastar to enlisting in the Army and then back to stardom where he made films that went on to chart hit hits and then headlined his own show in Las Vegas before he breathed his last in 1977 when Lisa Marie was only nine years old. That’s a lot of glitz to fit into such a short life, and his daughter grew up not really knowing her father beyond what her mother taught her and the headlines written about him.
Dolly Parton was once approached by Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker about her song “I Will Always Love You”. She eventually turned down the deal, but only because she was a savvy businesswoman. It had nothing to do with Elvis himself, just that it wasn’t business wise. Being a legend in the same industry herself, it’s fitting that she found the words to share to bring a sense of peace to everyone at such a tragic time.
Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, and her three remaining children, Riley Keough, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood, are all feeling the pain of such a great loss. First, her son Benjamin took his own life in 2020, and it really broke her heart. Then the remaining family members are due to receive the call Thursday that Lisa Marie herself was taken to West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in LA, where she would be pronounced dead later in the day.
As Dolly mentions, Elvis and his daughter are reunited and she can finally rest in peace. She is also reunited with her son, whom she missed dearly and mourned until his death, but used her grief to help others who may have been dealing with a similar loss of their own. Though his death left her devastated, she said she kept going for her girls because she’s still a mother and they needed her more than ever back then.
May Dolly Parton’s words bring healing to Priscilla and the family and everyone else who needed to hear. RIP Lisa Marie!
