Donald Trump Jr. calls for ‘outrage’ over Joe Biden’s vacation to St. Croix

Donald Trump Jr. lashes out at President Joe Biden for taking a “tropical vacation” after a deadly winter storm ravaged much of the country.

In a tweet on Friday, Trump compared the perceived lack of anger over Biden’s family vacation to the Caribbean to the backlash Republican Senator Ted Cruz received after he fled from Texas to Cancun, Mexico, amid a deadly winter storm and widespread power outages in his home state. fled February 2021.

“Where’s the outrage at Joe Biden taking a nice tropical vacation while the country suffers from a ‘polar vortex bomb cyclone’?” Trump tweeted. “Remember what they did to Ted Cruz? A president can actually do something about this stuff that a senator can’t and still stay totally silent? WTF?”

Although Trump said Biden was vacationing “while” the bomb cyclone was taking place, the president actually left for the U.S. Virgin Islands after the weather event cleared. However, some storm-swept areas like Buffalo, New York are still grappling with the aftermath.

Despite his furlough, the White House has denied Trump’s suggestion that Biden refuses to “do anything about this stuff” and insists the president keep working and monitoring the situation while he’s in St. Croix.

“No matter where the president is, he works,” a White House spokesman said news week in a statement this week. “The President will continue to monitor updates closely and remain in close contact with staff throughout the new year.”

Trump’s claim that Biden received little or no criticism for taking his leave is false. A number of prominent conservatives, including Cruz, have signaled their disapproval of the trip since Biden and his family left Washington, DC on Tuesday.

“Massive winter storms paralyzed the country and Biden took a beach vacation in the Caribbean,” said Republican Representative Ronny Jackson of Texas tweeted On Wednesday. “Where was the media to demand that he return to the White House to work? Did anyone even notice he was gone?”

“Where’s the media outrage at Joe Biden leaving his country to vacation on a St. Croix beach during an historic snowstorm?” tweeted conservative author and self-proclaimed “alpha male” Nick Adams.

Former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee described Biden’s trip during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity Thursday as proof that the president “doesn’t give a damn about what’s happening with the American public.”

“I mean, he could have at least filled Air Force One with a few guys from Buffalo, New York, and taken them to the US Virgin Islands in the sun for some time,” Huckabee said. “That would have been nice.”

Criticism of Biden’s trip hasn’t come exclusively from conservatives. Progressive Democrat Nina Turner, a former Ohio state senator and congressional candidate, described the trip as “unacceptable” while comparing it to Cruz’s 2021 field trip.

“If you were (rightfully) outraged that Senator Ted Cruz drove to Cancun last year while Texans froze to death, you should be outraged that President Biden vacationed in Buffalo last week while Americans froze to death,” said Turner tweeted on Thursday. “Both are unacceptable.”

Some also criticized Biden for leaving the White House while there was uncertainty at the US-Mexico border due to the legal status of Title 42 immigration policies, which the Supreme Court temporarily extended shortly after Biden’s departure.

“Where is @POTUS during this crisis?” Republican Rep. Jim Banks from Indiana tweeted before the verdict was reached on Tuesday. “Vacation in St. Croix.”
