Donald Trump Jr. Posts ‘Told You So’ Memes as Right Celebrates Twitter Leak

Donald Trump Jr. has responded with glee to the release of the so-called “Twitter files,” noting that the allegations justify his father’s claims that social media and big tech worked against the Republican Party in the 2020 election.

In a series of tweets, the former president’s eldest son claimed that posts by independent journalist Matt Taibbi on behalf of Twitter owner Elon Musk show apparent conspiracy theorists “right again.”

Trump Jr. also used the posts to return to the usual conservative tactic of poking fun at the use of preferred pronouns.

“I identify as a conspiracy theorist, my pronouns are tell/you/so,” read a meme shared by Trump Jr.

In a lengthy Twitter thread on Friday, Taibbi shared a series of internal discussions by Twitter employees discussing how they will prevent users from a New York Post Story ahead of the 2020 election as it violated the platform’s “distribution of hacked materials” policy.

That New York Post story detailed allegations that Hunter Biden arranged for then-Vice President Joe Biden to meet in April 2015 with an executive at Ukrainian energy company Burisma, of which Hunter was a board member.

The information for the story was provided by Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani, who said he obtained it from a laptop that President Biden’s son left in Wilmington, Delaware, in April 2019 but never picked up.

The files shared by Taibbi also allegedly show that members of Joe Biden’s 2020 team and the Trump administration have been in touch with Twitter’s moderation team.

Tabbi’s posts also allege that Team Biden and the Democratic National Committee asked Twitter to delete potentially harmful tweets involving Hunter Biden in 2020, including those that were sexually explicit and shared without Hunter’s permission.

“CONFIRMED: Twitter has been involved in direct election influence operations as a tool of the ‘Biden Team’. Corruption was everything we ever suspected and more to come,” Trump Jr. tweeted. “The ‘conspiracy theorists’ were right again!

“The real question, horrible as it was, how was what happened on Twitter during the 2020 election and really over the past decade really different than what happened in your average newsroom? Does anyone honestly think your average journalist is less partisan?” Trump Jr. added.

A number of other Trump loyalists also said the Twitter files are evidence of the former president’s longstanding complaint that social media companies unfairly target and censor right-wing votes and appear to have interfered in the last election.

Alex Bruesewitz, a conservative activist associated with the stop-the-steal movement, tweeted, “President Trump was fully confirmed on 2020 tonight #TwitterFiles.”

Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert also tweeted, “We thought Twitter was a corrupt cesspool. We never knew it was that bad.”

In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump claimed the “Twitter files” were evidence that the country as a whole was “corrupt,” while continuing to spread false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

“Wow! This is a really big story about Twitter and various forms of government fraud, including voter fraud in particular. The same level of fraud took place at the other big tech companies, if not worse (if that’s possible?),” Trump wrote.

“We live in a VERY CORRUPT COUNTRY &, AS THEY SAY ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET, ‘NOTHING WILL BE DONE BECAUSE THE JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT AND FBI ARE COMPLETELY CORRUPT.’ But they will continue to investigate “boxes” that were legally and openly taken from the [White House].”
