Drag Race Recap: Season 15 Episode 3 – [Spoiler] eliminated

After shocking the world by actually eliminating someone in the season 15 premiere, RuPaul’s Drag Race did the unthinkable this week by sending home another queen. Eliminations, what a concept.

With Irene Dubois’ lipstick message freshly wiped off the mirror (“I left a poop on one of your stations! But who?! the afterlife – sorry, make that “the weird after”).

If time permitted, the queens would also find out which lucky station received Irene’s parting gift.

This acting challenge, like all acting challenges, yielded mixed results. All you really need to know is that Sasha Colby’s neck-breaking gag got the biggest laughs; Loosey LaDuca made up for her poor showing last week with a solid showing from Dolly Parton; and Luxx Noir London, according to Michelle Visage, has “a gayness about you that’s more gay than gay”.

After a Metallica runway (named more for the material than the band), Sasha was announced as this week’s well-deserved winner, while Amethyst found herself back in the final two, this time facing Princess Poppy in a lip-sync battle on No Mountain is high enough” by Diana Ross

Neither queen destroyed the main stage this time, but at least Amethyst’s energy and performance remained relatively consistent throughout. Poppy went the comedic route, which was to be expected, but you could always feel her attempt to be funny, often to the point of insanity.

In the end, Ru agreed, gave Poppy the chop and sent Amethyst to safety. Again.

Side note: Thanks to the show’s new shorter format, we got to this week’s results much quicker than usual. If you haven’t noticed – and we wouldn’t blame you, since last week’s premiere was an unusual two-hour event – each episode now runs 60 minutes of commercials, as opposed to the 90-minute runtime in recent seasons.
