Drowning in San Jose, California: Two children are dead and one was hospitalized after falling into the daycare’s swimming pool, police say

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Two children drowned at a day care center in San Jose, California, on Monday, police said. One child remains in the hospital.

San Jose police responded to a welfare check at a daycare center around 9:05 a.m. to assist firefighters, officials said.

According to police, several children fell into a pool.

Three children were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Two of the children were pronounced dead. The condition of the third child is now considered non-life-threatening, police said.

The SJPD Homicide Unit and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident.
