COVINA, Calif. (KABC)– A man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after driving his car into two shops in Covina late Sunday afternoon, causing extensive damage.

The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. on East Rowland Street.

According to Covina police, the vehicle was speeding down Second Avenue when it crashed into a dry cleaning store and printing facility.

A nearby business owner said it was not the first time such an accident had happened in the area.

“It’s not uncommon here,” said Georgia McCaffrey. “It might be the sixth or seventh in 10 years. They just seem to run into the building. I do not understand.”

The driver was reportedly uncooperative with first responders before being taken into custody.

Both stores were closed at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported. Both companies suffered significant structural damage.
