IMPERIAL COUNTY, California — According to Sandhya Patel, a meteorologist at ABC7 sister broadcaster KGO-TV, Imperial County was on a dust alert as a gust front with fierce winds and limited visibility moved toward San Diego and Riverside counties Thursday night.
Live Doppler 7 from KGO-TV tracked the front moving through the area of Southern California that is producing severe thunderstorms.

Sandhya says there have been several reports of dust storms, and about a dozen of them, with visibility dropping to zero at times.
A blowing dust advisory was in effect for parts of the Coachella Valley and San Diego County until 8 p.m.
“Driving conditions can be hazardous and visibility can sometimes drop to a quarter mile or less due to the sand and dust,” says Sandhya.
