Elderly woman with lost engagement ring reunited in emotional video

A metal detector in England made an 85-year-old woman’s day brighter when he found her lost engagement ring hidden in her own garden.

The woman, known as Mrs. Brown, couldn’t find her sentimental ring after losing it at home. But metal detector @Smoggysearcher wasn’t going to let it go without a fight. He uses his abilities to find people’s lost items on their property for free.

The detectorist captured the moment Mrs. Brown learned the news her ring wasn’t lost forever in an emotional viral video that has racked up over 200,000 views and sparked tears online.

He greeted a smiling Mrs. Brown at the door for what he described as “the happiest metal detecting moment ever.” @smoggysearcher presented the woman with her lost engagement ring and let out a shocked yell from her. She reached out to grab the item before pulling him in for a grateful hug as well.

“I’m so happy right now,” he said as the two started crying at the same time. The metal detector had found the ring in a trash can full of grass from the front yard. Without his help. It would have been impossible for Mrs. Brown to find her ring.

According to the woman, she must have been lifting grass into the bin without noticing the ring slipping off her finger. “It is wonderful. Thank you,” she said as the couple continued to cry outside the door.

Unfortunately, although it is a sad experience, the loss of rings is not uncommon. According to research by insurer Ecclesiastical, around a quarter of men admitted to having lost their wedding ring at some point, while 14.3 percent of women said the same.

Viewers of the viral video were touched by the interaction and rushed to the comments section to share their excitement.

At the end of last year, news week reported on a couple who also lost a precious wedding ring while cliff jumping in Hawaii in 2021. Luckily and to the couple’s surprise, a year later another couple visited the same cliffs and discovered the gold wedding ring on a lava rock nearby.

Thanks to TikTok, the couple managed to reunite the ring with its rightful owner after posting a social media callout.
