Elon Musk announces the hiring of a new Twitter CEO

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Nearly seven months after Elon Musk became Twitter’s CEO, he announced Thursday that he has hired someone else to fill his role for the social media site.

Musk announced the news on Twitter and said he was “excited” to announce that the new CEO would start work in about six weeks.

“I am pleased to announce that I have hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. It will start in about 6 weeks!” Musk shared.

Musk added that his role at the social media site will now transition to CEO and CTO, meaning he will oversee product software and systems operations.

“My role will transition to CEO and CTO, overseeing the products, software and sysops,” he said.

Musk became CEO of Twitter in October after buying the site for $44 billion. Since his acquisition, Musk has revised the site’s verification status, allowing users to purchase the coveted “verified” blue tick by subscribing to Twitter Blue, which costs $8 per month for web use and $11 per month in the US apartment
