It may be the dead of winter when Vivian Green performs at City Winery, but let’s just say if you went to the show to beat the cold with some hot, smooth R&B, you’re probably in the right place.

Almost two decades have passed since the release of her first album in 2002, and Green’s career has included not only releasing her own music, but also working on tunes for other artists.

Green co-wrote “Dear God,” which according to All Music was released on the Boyz II Men album Evolution. She has also worked on the music for Britney Spears.

According to the music website, Green’s music spans R&B, hip-hop, house, and jazz. Her 2002 album A Love Story went gold. Along with songwriter and producer Kwame Holland, the duo released the LP Vivid in 2015, which earned a spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. Two years later, Green and Holland released the album VGVI. Four of his singles have reached the top 10 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

In 2020, while the world stood still during the pandemic, Green released her seventh studio album, Love Absolute. Her sister and son both appear on the album, as does Ghostface Killah and saxophonist Mike Phillip, according to Urban Music Scene.

“I started writing songs on the piano when I was 11,” Green said, according to the website. “To me it’s the purest expression of songwriting. My voice and the keys serve as vessels for the music in my head. In my solitude and away from the studio. While that certainly comes later, I prefer the raw expression come first because there’s certainly magic there. That magic sets ‘Love Absolute’ apart from my previous albums.” As if being a respected musician wasn’t enough, Green has also appeared on television, both as herself and in television series, working on soundtracks and appearing in the 2004 film “De-Lovely” as a musical actor, according to IMD’b.

This performance has been rescheduled from its originally scheduled date of January 29, 2022.
