According to HBO, house of the dragon Season 1 has the same number of episodes as the early seasons of Game of Thrones. The prequel will have 10 chapters in total, each lasting about an hour.
That leaves plenty of time to cover the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen Civil War outlined in George RR Martins Fire & Blood. Season 1 will likely address the preparation for the confrontation and possibly also deal with the actual battle for the Iron Throne.

Is the Game of Thrones prequel getting a second season?
A 10-episode first season might be able to build The Dance of Dragons, but it will house of the dragon go into the Targaryen Civil War in a second excursion?
HBO hasn’t officially given it the green light game of Thrones Prequel to another series of episodes. However, the creators behind the show seem to be aiming for more.
During an interview with Collider, showrunner Ryan Condal highlighted how much history the series could explore – and confirmed that they already have a direction in mind house of the dragon Season 2:
“We have 170 years of history ahead of us, so you have to consider at what point are you lifting the curtain on this particular story? We’ve always had a good feel for it. I think we have a good plan for Season 2 if HBO is willing and eager to continue the story with us. There really are 300 years of Targaryen history to explore and there are many stories within that that are really fascinating.”
If she game of Thrones Prequel actually gets another round probably depends on viewership. So let’s hope a lot of fans will tune in for this new adventure in Westeros.
