Eva Longoria stars in Land of Women for Apple TV Plus

Eva Longoria returns to the land of series television: The Desperate Housewives Alum will star and serve as executive producer country of womena new dramedy for Apple TV+TVLine found out.

country of women — who has been commissioned by the streamer for a six-episode series — stars Longoria as Gala, who is forced to flee New York City with her mother and college-age daughter when her husband lines up the entire family implicated in financial crimes. The three women are hiding out in a charming wine town in northern Spain that Gala’s mother once called home. “The women want to start over and hope their identities remain unknown, but gossip in the small town spreads quickly, revealing their deepest family secrets and truths,” reads the official description.

Along with Longoria, acclaimed Spanish actress Carmen Maura (Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown) has joined the cast as Gala’s mother, Julia. Ramon Campos (Well then) acts as showrunner and together with Teresa Fernández-Valdés created the series based on the best-selling novel by Sandra Barneda.

Longoria first broke out as Gabrielle Solis on the ABC primetime soap opera Desperate Housewiveswhich aired for eight seasons and earned Longoria a Golden Globe nomination in 2006. Since then she has served as executive producer of the Lifetime series Sneaky Maids and starred in the short-lived NBC comedy telenovela.
