Evan Peters’ Golden Globes win gets slammed by Dahmer victim’s mother

Evan Peters bring in a Golden Globes win for Ryan Murphy’s Dahmer – Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer Didn’t sit well with many people who think the Netflix series “retraumatizes” victims’ families.
And to this point, the mother of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims berates Peters for not even bothering to mention those still suffering the serial killer’s crimes during his acceptance speech.
“Thank you to Netflix and Mr. Ryan Murphy for letting me be a part of your brilliant vision again,” Peters said in his Tuesday night speech. “I want to thank this incredible cast, crew and directors. It was a colossal team effort. Everyone gave their all and without them I wouldn’t be up here. I want to thank my family, friends and loved ones who helped pick me up when I fell and carried me to the finish line.”
“And finally and most importantly, I want to thank everyone out there who watched the show,” added the 35-year-old. “It was difficult to make, it was difficult to watch, but I sincerely hope something good came out of it.”
It’s unclear what Peters thinks is “good” as he digs up decades-old trauma, but Shirley Hughes, the mother of Dahmer victim Tony Hughes, doesn’t believe it, as she later told TMZ.
Shirley scoffed… saying nothing good will come from Evans award for the Netflix series. She says it only adds to the grief for the families of the people Dahmer killed and repeats the tragedy over and over again.
Tony’s mother also had this to say about Evan’s big night… “There are a lot of sick people in the world, and people who win acting roles by playing killers keep the obsession going and that’s what makes sick people thrive on fame. “
As far as Peters mentions how “difficult” it was to take on the role, Hughes questions why he took the role in the first place, thinking he shouldn’t have taken it “out of respect for the families who are still heartbroken.” live losing loved ones.”
“It’s a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money,” added Hughes. “The victims never saw a dime. We experience these emotions every day.”
Anyway, Murphy has already signed two more installments in the “Monster” series to Netflix, which will also follow the real-life events of “monstrous figures that have influenced society.” It’s currently unclear which killers these episodes will focus on, but let’s hope that maybe the second and third time around he can somehow find a way to justify the families who may still be grieving.
