Even the MSNBC host doesn’t think Pelosis is hinting at bad polls for Democrats

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California tried and failed to downplay polls showing the deteriorating economy boosted support for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections.
Pelosi made the comments as a guest on MSNBC in an interview with Andrea Mitchell.
“So let’s talk rising inflation worries along with crime that’s giving Republicans momentum, new momentum, after Democrats close the gap, the historic gap,” Mitchell said.
“Yes,” Pelosi agreed.
“So there was a huge outrage after the Supreme Court ruling. That seemed to have eased, at least under the overriding concerns,” Mitchell continued.
“Despite all the legislative achievements, and I would like to quote them, I would like to say that it was an exceptional session. You and the President have done so much in terms of domestic affairs and the economy,” she concluded. “Why is that message, why do you think the President didn’t get that message across to voters?”
“Well, first let me say that I think I disagree with a lot of what you’ve said,” Pelosi replied. “That said, the New York Times poll is, to my mind, an outlier poll. You cite one poll, but everyone else has a different one…”
“It’s also true that the RealClearPolitics average shows similar problems,” Mitchell interjected.
“No. no But that was one that lowered the mean, and it was an outlier, it wasn’t even that large of a sample,” Pelosi argued.
“So I just dismiss that. I’ve been to an average of five states a week since Congress adjourned, and I can tell you that women’s concerns about their freedom are very, very important when it comes to how they’re going to vote,” she added .
Pelosi went on to claim inflation is a global problem, but then admitted that part of the problem stems from President Joe Biden’s policies.
“But part of the inflation in our country has come from the fact that this President has created nearly 10 million jobs — nine, at least nine million jobs in partnership with the private sector,” she added.
Many liberals were outraged by the New York Times/Siena College poll, which showed abortion as a top concern among likely voters had declined while the economy and inflation had gained prominence. The poll also found that 19% of voters who supported Biden in 2020 now disapprove of his job performance.
