‘FBI: International’: Luke Kleintank on Scott’s departure for reassignment

Next week FBI: International, the confrontation between Special Agent Scott Forrester and bastard Ken Dandridge reaches a turning point as their approaches to solving a case differ greatly. Could this be the clash that will result in Forrester being booted from the Fly team for good?

In the episode “Someone She Knew” (airing Tuesday at 9:8c on CBS), the Fly Team goes in search of a kidnapped American teenager in Austria as the proverbial clock ticks on Forrester’s transfer. As a result, Forrester must balance the value of following the lead of Dandridge (played by Michael Torpey), the ambitious legal attaché at the US Embassy in Budapest, or sticking to his own considerable instincts.

“Scott faces one of the biggest cases he’s dealt with in his career,” Luke Kleintank, who has played Scott since Season 1, told TVLine. “On top of that, he has to deal with the upcoming transfer and Dandridge is coming in for his job.”

Speaking of Dandridge, “He’s definitely a suit with an agenda,” assures Kleintank. “Scott is the man who does his job and Dandridge is definitely trying to get in the way of climbing the ladder.”

“McKenna is a big question mark” for the Fly Team

What doesn’t help the Fly team operate 100 percent free or with no trust issues is the recent involvement of Special Agent Zoey McKenna (Kelley Missal). The fact that she was hand-picked by Dandridge is only further questioned when it is revealed that someone is spying on Forrester’s every move.

“McKenna is a big question mark for Scott and the team,” says Kleintank. “Her story remains ambiguous at the moment – no one knows if she’s good or bad. But I think Scott is cautiously optimistic.”

Forrester isn’t one to bow to Dandridge’s demands, but as the hour goes on, the Fly Team vet realizes he’s not dealing with just a wayward man. Far from it. “It doesn’t help that Dandridge has ties to Washington, particularly to very powerful senators…” predicts Kleintank.

If one key clue points to two different approaches and time is of the essence, will Forrester agree to an option that he doesn’t approve of, but that gives Dandridge a win? Or will he not go down without one last fight? As TVLine’s Inside Line column recently reported, this week’s episode ends will Clarify Forrester’s future with the team.

“I think Scott will do everything he can to remain a part of the Fly team,” says Kleintank. “But if that means his colleagues losing their jobs, he would leave.”
