FBI agents investigate an attempted break-in at the Cincinnati FBI office.

CINCINNATI — Authorities are locked in an altercation with a man who tried to break into an FBI office in Cincinnati on Thursday morning.

The standoff comes after a car chase down I-71 in Clinton County, Ohio.

The FBI said at 9 a.m. a gunman attempted to break into the visitor control facility at the FBI’s Cincinnati office.

The man then fled in a white Ford Crown Victoria north onto I-71 in Cinton County, Ohio, where shots were fired, according to authorities.

The FBI, Ohio State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement are currently in a standoff with the suspect in Wilmington, Ohio.

Authorities monitor online threats following FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago

A lockdown is in effect within a one-mile radius of the standoff scene, with people being told to lock doors and stay indoors.

It’s not clear why the man tried to break into the FBI office, but it comes amid threats after the FBI conducted a court-authorized search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago Florida home .
