Female fighter pilots soar as the Thunderbirds swoop into Huntington Beach for the Pacific Airshow

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — When the Thunderbirds are in action, watch the US Air Force do their best as the team perform breathtaking maneuvers that will take your breath away.

It is an experience that is impressive even in the pilot’s seat.

“There’s nothing quite like seeing six fighter jets fly just meters apart, you know? Flying a few hundred feet over your head, especially with the afterburner on, it’s just deafening, it’s amazing,” said former Thunderbirds pilot Michelle. Club” Curran.

There have only been five women who have flown the Thunderbirds, and at the upcoming Pacific Airshow, Major Lauren “Threat” Schlichting will be the only female pilot to make her way through the sky.

You can catch the Pacific Airshow, hosted by ABC7’s John Gregory and Leslie Lopez, live on Saturday, October 1 — only on Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
