Final Fantasy 14’s bizarre, charming crossover with Fall Guys launches this month

You can probably imagine the strangest crossover of this year Final Fantasy 14 And Autumn guysand you will soon be able to try it out.

Earlier this year, Square Enix and Mediatonic announced that Final Fantasy 14 and Fall Guys would be appearing in each other’s games, with the latter getting some cute costumes and the former getting some crazy obstacle courses. As announced yesterday during the Final Fantasy Fan Festival in London, the Fall Guys-style mini-game will be coming to Eorzea when update 6.51 arrives on October 31st. You can check out the collaboration trailer below, and it really looks like they’ve integrated Fall Guys directly into Final Fantasy 14.

Of course, some Final Fantasy flavors have been added to the courses, so you might spot some familiar iconography like Moogles, Cactuar and Chocobo. Most of the time, however, just like in Fall Guys, you’ll be competing against other players for the coveted crown, and of course there will be some unique challenges along the way. Completing the courses also appears to net you some rewards, such as pink and purple outfits featuring the iconic Fall Guys beans and what even looks like a Fall Guys bean minion.

It should be noted that Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki Yoshida has said that this mini-game will not always be available and will move back and forth in the Golden Saucer. So try it as soon as it appears so you don’t. You won’t miss out on any loot.

However, you won’t be surprised to hear that the Fall Guys crossover wasn’t the biggest announcement at Fan Festival, as there was a lot more on display. The MMO will also work alongside Final Fantasy 16 and fellow MMO Final Fantasy 11, and a whole host of Dawntrail details have also been revealed.
