Fire Country Recap: Season 1 Episode 12: Did Bode/Gabriela Kiss?

This week on a special Sunday episode of CBS fire landIn the midst of the big news, Freddy found time to play Match(re)maker while a mysterious new threat emerged…
The trigger for this Sunday’s post-AFC championship game was a skywriting plane that went amok, burned out an engine or something and spiraled to the ground. The paratrooper was found alive and well dangling from a tree, but his plane exploded shortly after the crash, sparking multiple fires on the mountainside.
Manny’s Three Rock inmates teamed up with Vince’s Station 42 crew to fight the blazes, with the recurring concern being a home that Michael “Forever the Grey’s anatomy Sagittarius” O’Neil. Despite Vince’s pleas (and some unsuccessful PSYOPS from Jake and Eve), this Harlan Denbo insisted on staying put and instead hired the firefighters to guard his home.
In the midst of all this, Freddy found out from Sharon that his pregnant friend Cookie was on her way to visit when she went into labor but managed to make it to the fire department to deliver their baby (as we’ve seen before) .
Elsewhere, we met a new “nugget” (aka a child of a Cal Fire grad) named Collin (played by Days of Our Lives/Y&R‘s Zach Tinker), who stepped on the wrong boulder in the midst of that plane crash on his first day, triggering a rockfall that nearly crushed some of Manny’s crew. Gabriela took the blame so her “Nugget” co-star didn’t get a fair shake, but Collin eventually came to the literal misstep.
Realizing that Gabriela and others had already seen the baby he himself had yet to meet, Freddy broke away from the crew and made his way into town, but Bode, while Gabriela watched, convinced him it was the right thing to do to do and to stay . Freddy’s persistence would pay off when Manny later took him to the Leone homestead, where Vince and Sharon had offered to let Cookie and the newborn sleep for the night – so the proud new dad could see and spend time with his little girl.
Speaking of Freddy, when he wasn’t longing to see his kid, he’d nudge Gaby to give Bode another chance (after Bode scared her by beating up that biker in the last episode). More precisely, before he left to meet his daughter Freddy Celebration advised Bode to check his equipment at the laundry – where Bode found Gabriela waiting for him. Bode pleaded his case and pulled Gaby into a passionate kiss. Gabriela broke off to say they all have to do some work and become their best selves and once Bode has served his time they can unwrap the ‘gift’ that awaits them. But… a second, hotter kiss indicated that they’re both really, really inclined to open things up NOW, although Gaby somehow dragged herself away from that second, heated clinch.
So Freddy is a new dad… we have movement on the #Bodiela front… Harlan’s house went up in flames but not before he got his ailing wife and later/barely himself to safety…. and Manny has told Vince and Sharon that he’s going to do an OT to get his finances in order and get a seat. That was the good news.
Somewhere in between, the question of who Sharon will receive a donated kidney from became complicated as Bode is a match and is willing (but Sharon is reluctant to accept his offer), while Jake claims he is not a match but actually IS.
And on the decided Poorly news front? A closing sequence revealed an unseen someone dancing through the forest with a gas-powered torch, maliciously igniting flames… Too easy to guess that it’s Collin, the randomly appearing “Nugget”? Or maybe this lawyer who’s causing a stir because she can’t have Bode?
