Florida firefighters rescue owl trapped on vehicle roof rack

WINTER PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A little owl got lost in Winter Park Monday night and got stuck on someone’s roof rack.

Fortunately, firefighters arrived and freed the nocturnal bird without a cry.

The Winter Park Fire Department shared a photo of the Barred Owl on FacebookThey said the owl flew into the driver’s luggage rack around midnight and got stuck there.

“Oh my. Last night firefighters safely extricated this barred owl from a vehicle’s roof rack. “The motorist reported the owl flew into the luggage rack around midnight while driving,” the fire department wrote.

WPFRD explained that “these majestic owls” are often seen roaming the area’s tree-lined streets and are popular with residents and visitors.

After the owl was freed, it quickly flew away and “seemed fine.”

“I’m pretty sure both the motorist and the owl were a little taken aback by the whole experience, but we’re just grateful we were able to help,” the department added.
