Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Elizabeth Lyn Vargas’ ex-boyfriend convicted of assaulting her

Elizabeth Lyn Vargas was a one-time Orange owner Real housewives from Orange County and never really fit into the mix. Over time, more people may have started to realize who she is, but given the severity of the trauma she’s been going through, one could understand why she held it so tight to her chest. Also, that was during the seasons of Braunwyn, so it was A LOT.
Elizabeth faced a lot of challenges. Raised in a cult, she somehow became the wife of a billionaire CEO, divorced after 20 years, and was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Ryan. The latest event happened in her Newport neighborhood, in the press and now in court.
To give you the backstory, Ryan Matthew Geraghty was reportedly already trying to extort money from Elizabeth when the incident happened in 2022. The pattern of him ultimately wanting money from her, threatening her, and negligently using firearms was already beginning to emerge. And when he broke into her home with a gun, he already had two burglary convictions.
What did the cops say?
According to the Newport Beach Police Department, “Officers arrived at the scene and observed an emergency situation that required the immediate evacuation of the victim from the home.” Upon entering the home, police officers encountered an armed male suspect who was actively trying to kill the victim victim threatened. The officers took immediate action and took the suspect into custody. Based on information obtained by officers after rescuing the victim, the unfolding incident warranted the evacuation of surrounding residences. The Crisis Response Team has been requested…”
Geraghty pleaded guilty Tuesday and settled a plea deal to serve six years. District Attorney Todd Spitzer issued a statement in response, saying, “There are some members of our society who are so violent that they cannot live among the rest of us.”
The prosecutor’s words are harsh. On the contrary, the fact that he considered Geraghty a California 3-Strike offender and was sentenced to just six years in prison is surprising. The circumstances of the other convictions must play a role.
I hope that everyone involved can process their lives in peace, let go and move on.
