God of War (2018) was undeniably one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. Be it the narrative, the graphics, or the gameplay, the game managed to deliver on all fronts. After experiencing an exciting story, players could also do tons of things in the post-game, giving them quite a challenging experience. In fact, one of the optional bosses, Sigrun, the Valkyrie Queen, which can be summoned after defeating all eight Valkyries, is considered one of the toughest bosses in the game’s history when players play the game on the hardest difficulty.

However, a common problem in the game was the lack of enemy variety. And you would find that criticism even from the hardcore lovers of the game, so it’s not like there’s any sort of bias. While there is still some variety with the mobs, the bosses are downright bad, to put it bluntly. You end up fighting mostly the same trolls throughout the game, with some of their attacks changing over time. The enemy design actually does a lot of injustice to the entire game. In fact, the developers themselves had acknowledged this, stating that they wanted more enemy types, but that would have lengthened the development process even further.
However, when it comes to it God of War Ragnarok, this issue will likely be fixed as Santa Monica is one of Sony’s most reputable studios and is expected to be more responsive to feedback from the latest game. In fact, the developers themselves have mentioned that the enemies in the game will be “tougher” and “more varied” and there will be a bunch of new creatures that players will fight.
Since the game itself is set to release in 2022, we should know more about it and know the release date soon enough.
