Gov. Gavin Newsom is calling for a special legislative session in response to rising gas prices

SACRAMENTO, California– California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that he would call a special legislative session in December to hold “greedy” oil companies accountable amid rising gas prices.

The governor’s office tweeted that the special session will be held on December 5.

Newsom also took to Twitter and said it was “time to levy a windfall profit tax directly on oil companies that rip you off at the pump.”

California is now $6,425 for an average gallon, according to the AAA, nearly a full dollar higher than our northern neighbors in Washington and Oregon.
