Granzella’s Kazuma Kujo would love to make a new one Steambot Chroniclesbut things are quite complicated.
Granzella hosted a special live stream on YouTube on May 27, called the Granzella Gathering 2. These streams focus on all Granzella games, with staff answering questions from fans in the second half. This time the first half focused mostly on the Shmup game R type final 2.
Steambot Chronicles was one of the many experimental games on PS2 that mixed many different genres and themes. Featuring open-world sandbox RPG, steampunk, mecha customization, and dating sim elements all mixed up. This made the game a popular experience for many fans around the world all waiting for a new entry. And while the game got a spin-off on PSP, it became the official one Steambot Chronicles 2 was canceled in the middle of development.
Granzella’s Kazuma Kujo answers fans asking about a new Steambot Chronicles game or remake
As our colleagues pointed out on Japanese blog Game’s Talk, the stream asked Kazuma Kujo about the series and “why a new one Bumpy trot game was never released.” Ponkotsu Roman Daikatsugeki Bumpy Trot is the Japanese name of Steambot Chronicles. The question was also whether they would rather do a remake of the PS2 game or the PSP game or try to do what was canceled Steambot Chronicles 2 again. We’ve translated Kazuma Kujo’s answer below.
First, Kujo pointed out that given his position as a producer, it was quite difficult to answer when asked that. Instead of “Why don’t you make a new one Steambot Chronicles‘, he wants to be asked instead ‘Would you like to make a new one Steambot Chronicles?”.
Kujo said he would like to do it Steambot Chronicles 2 because it was canceled mid-development. But he’d also like to remake the original game first to reintroduce the series. Since releasing the sequel alone wouldn’t make sense now.
Kujo also shared how much he loves the series and was fully invested in its development. He poured pretty much every idea he had back then into the game and did his best to make it the massive and immersive experience the game is known for.
“I would really like to make a new game”
Kujo ended his reply by repeating that he would really like to do more Steambot Chronicles Games but can’t really comment on that. Kazuma Kujo answered these questions from the 50:17 mark of the stream, you can watch it below.
