Guild Wars 2 trolls block others’ access to new Legendary weapon skins… by making events a success

Guild Wars 2 Players fail because other players troll them by forcing them to succeed. Wait, let’s start over.

In order to unlock the new Zhaitan variants of the Legendary Generation 3 weapons, released earlier this week alongside the Sky Pirates patch, players must defeat a specific boss of one of the meta-events in Zhaitan’s domain of Orr. That’s not surprising, but what frustrates players is that the specific boss that the collection needs will only trigger if a specific event earlier in the chain fails. Of course, trolls show up to make this event a success, making everyone’s hard work go to waste and forcing them to wait several hours before the event hits another chance again.

The events in question can be completed by even a small number of players, so it’s entirely possible that a newcomer or two will walk in, not paying attention to the chat, and not realizing that they’re ruining everyone’s fun by simply doing what you expect with events . However, there also seems to be numerous players cause trouble on purpose.

Still other players report defeating the correct boss but not receiving their reward.

This isn’t even the first time this has happened; Two of the Generation 2 Legendaries required the same boss and caused similar frustrations with their releases, albeit perhaps to a lesser extent since it was only one weapon type at a time rather than all 16. It seems that ArenaNet hasn’t evolved from its earlier Failure has learned to make failure a prerequisite for success.
