In the newly released video embedded above, del Toro previews the “unprecedented and genre-defining stories designed to challenge our traditional notions of horror.” The official description reads: “From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically spooky, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister stories (including two del Toro original stories) are brought to life by a team of writers and directors led by del Toro personally selected.”
“With cabinet of curiosities“We set out to show the realities outside of our normal world, the anomalies and oddities,” the director said in a statement. “We’ve handpicked and curated a panel of stories and storytellers to deliver those stories, whether they’re drawn from outer space, supernatural lore, or just inside our heads. Each of these eight stories is a fantastic look into the cabinet of pleasures that exist beneath the reality we live in.”
He continues in the clip: “With cabinet of curiositieswhat I’m trying to say is, ‘Look, the world is beautiful and terrible at the same time.’”
Talent appearing throughout the series includes Crispin Glover (American gods), F Murray Abraham (Mythic Quest), Andrew Lincoln (the Walking Dead), Kate Micucci (mummy), Glynn Turman (The cable), Eric Andre (The Righteous Gems) and many more.
