Handcuffed person slips away from shooting scene and stabs to death in downtown Los Angeles

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A person interested in a shooting and stabbing in downtown Los Angeles escaped from police custody in handcuffs and remains at large Wednesday night.
The violent and chaotic incident happened around 5:40 p.m. near the Metro Red Line stop at 7th and Flower Streets in downtown Los Angeles.
Someone believed to be a teenage male was shot and stabbed at the intersection. Officers arrived and began resuscitating the victim.
They also handcuffed a person at the scene, who was described as a person of interest whom they intended to question.
As the crowd rolled around the scene, a teenage boy with a skateboard pounded the officers. In the excitement, the handcuffed male of interest managed to break free and run away with the handcuffs still on.
Police said they didn’t know if the person was a suspect in the stabbing and shooting, but wanted to question the person and searched the area for him into the evening.
The victim, who sustained gunshot and stab wounds, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The youth who was swinging the skateboard was arrested.
The circumstances leading to the incident were further investigated.
