Harrison Ford compares the “Yellowstone” universe to “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones”

Harrison Ford says there are some significant differences between his experiences 1923 compared to his other hit franchises, war of stars and Indiana Jones.

In an interview with Collider, Ford revealed more details about the yellowstone prequel spinoff 1923. The series will explore relevant historical events of the time – like Prohibition and the Great Depression – as the Dutton family tries to protect their country from competitors, but the differences don’t end there.

“Compared to that war of stars or Indiana Jones, we spend far more time outdoors in real-world locations than on sets that need to be crafted to create a reality. So there is a sense of reality. The moment you step out into that cold in your 1923 costume, you begin to understand what real life as a cowboy is like.”

1923 takes place afterwards 1883, starring country music superstars Tim McGraw as James Dutton and Faith Hill as Margaret Dutton portraying a married couple. The couple and their children traveled the Midwest, braving the elements and adversaries alike to make a home in Montana. The series was a success for Paramount, so it came as no surprise that another show about the Duttons was announced soon.

Ford plays Jacob Dutton, James’ brother; He is married to Cara, played by Helen Mirren. and currently owns Dutton Ranch with his family. They’re the current owners of Dutton Ranch alongside James’ surviving children, but it won’t be easy for them. A ranch war breaks out between the Dutton Ranch and the Stafford Ranch, owned by Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), and Whitfield wants the whole valley to himself.

war of stars and Indiana Jones are both known for being blockbuster franchises that pour out the spectacle and action to engage audiences, but yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan takes a different stylistic approach. Its numerous series are not without violence and intense scenes, but there is a penchant for quiet moments in the feuds and you will not see many special effects. There is an authenticity in the natural environment portrayed in his shows and that will continue 1923.

Ford also explained his transition into the television world, as the bulk of his work has been in films, but it’s not that different for him on that front. The main difference is the longer time these stories have to develop characters, but that’s about it. In his opinion, the days of thinking less about television and more about films are over, and he praised 1923 for its high quality.

“We used to think that television might be less ambitious than feature films. It’s no longer the case at all. This is one of the most ambitious ventures I have ever undertaken and I am so pleased with what I have seen so far. Because we’re in post-production on a lot of it, but we’ve finished the first few episodes and I’m thrilled with what I’m seeing. I have enjoyed working with very high quality actors and actresses and we have the technical ability and ambition to shoot this as it would a feature film. It’s pretty nice to look at. I am excited about the whole project.”

1923 will premiere on December 18th on Paramount Plus.
