Harrison Ford didn’t think Indiana Jones 5 was necessary, and he’s not alone

By the time Indiana Jones 5 Finally hitting theaters next June, Harrison Ford will be just weeks away from his 81st birthday, which is old hell to be headlining a blockbuster action extravaganza.

Of course, the Hollywood icon has kept in excellent form, but that didn’t stop alarm bells from ringing when an injury sustained during production sidelined him for much longer than originally anticipated. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, nobody can outrun Father Time, so we can only hope the actor’s swan song as the legendary archaeologist proves a fitting farewell.

The franchise may be over 40 years old, but Indiana Jones 5 is only the second installment to arrive since 1989, which is amazing when you think about it. Based on how much the internet continues to despise Kingdom of the Crystal Skullit wouldn’t have been a particularly fitting way for Ford to say goodbye, but even the man himself admitted that at first he didn’t see the point of cracking the whip for the fifth time.

In typically morose manner, Ford betrayed Rich that he “didn’t feel it necessary to do another one.” That’s totally understandable, and while he went on to say that the script changed his mind, we have a sneaking suspicion that a dump truck full of that sweet, sweet Disney money undoubtedly helped convince him as well.

The only real question is whether or not Indiana Jones 5 can meet expectations, an answer that we will not receive for another seven months.
