Houston Thanksgiving shooting: 2 dead, 2 injured in Spring Branch

HOUSTON — Houston police are looking for a shooter who broke into a house in Spring Branch on Thanksgiving shot four people and left two dead.

It happened Bagget Lanewhich is just south of the intersection of Long Point and Wirt Streets.

A man and a woman were killed, while another man and a teenager were seriously injured in the shooting. Police said the shooting happened just as family and friends inside the house were finishing Thanksgiving dinner.

“The suspect, who is known to be the ex-husband of the deceased woman, walked in through the back door and just started shooting at people inside,” HPD Asst said. Boss Patricia Cantu said.

Cantu said people in the house then ran into the rooms for safety as the shooter reloaded his gun to continue firing.

Police said they don’t yet know who the suspect is but said those details would be released later in the day.

“We know it’s the deceased’s ex-husband,” Cantu said. “We don’t know where he is. We will seek help from the public to help us catch this man.”

Members of the HPD Crime Scene Unit were at the house on Friday, taking out bags full of unidentified items.

A local resident said crime is uncommon in this neighborhood.

“We heard what sounded like fireworks … but there were so many,” Hunter Montgomery said. “We went in. Literally, a few minutes later, just siren after siren after siren.”

Montgomery said they went outside to see what was going on.

“When we found out he was still at large, so to speak, we went in, locked all the doors and turned on the alarm,” he said. “It’s scary to think that this can happen to anyone.”
