How to Fry a Turkey: Chicago Fire Department, Fire Marshal demonstrate the dangers of roasting a frozen turkey

CHICAGO– Thanksgiving is the premier day for home fires involving cooking appliances.
In fact, the state fire marshal said there are four times the average number of cases on Thanksgiving.
In general, stoves and cooktops cause three out of five home fires, officials said.
The acting firefighter joined the Chicago Fire Department Wednesday morning to provide a specific warning about the blaze Dangers of turkey fryers.

The demonstration at the Quinn Fire Academy on the Südschleife showed what can happen if you don’t defrost your turkey first.
Firefighters said to keep a fire extinguisher nearby in case your turkey catches fire and to call 9-1-1 if it gets out of control.
The event proved that not everything, even the intentional lighting of a fire, goes as planned.

The first attempt to show the risks of turkey fryers failed. Nothing happened after Chicago firefighters dumped the turkey in the fryer.
In fact, someone had to run to the grocery store to get a second frozen turkey!
And yes, the firefighters found the whole thing humorous.
