How to manually update to Genshin Impact 2.7 on PC

After a slight delay than usual, we are fast approaching the official release of Genshin Impact 2.7. Genshin Impact is without a doubt still one of the biggest games out there, and miHoYo’s constant stream of updates ensures players always have new content to look forward to. Despite this, there are still issues with how players update the game and the buggy launcher doesn’t help. If you want to update to Genshin Impact 2.7 manually, you can follow this guide.

Manually update to Genshin Impact 2.7

With each new guide we try to make it easier for players to follow and update their games. To make sure everything works properly, please follow each step and download the files we provide. If you update your game manually, you can use your own third-party download software.

Please note that this guide assumes you are in the version 2.6.

Required downloads for 2.7

Download the following files, which are for version 2.7.

Note: Downloading all audio files is not required. Download only the ones you need. It should be noted that you need at least one.

Also, you need to download your language’s audio patch window is set, which means you need the English package if that is your default Windows language.

If you’ve followed our guides, you’ll find that update 2.7 has rather large audio file sizes compared to previous versions.

Updated to 2.7

Now that you have the required files, we can proceed with the installation process.

  • Run the first Genshin Impact Launcher, and make sure it updates. We are referring to the launcher version and not the game version. Just start the game launcher automatically update yourself, so do that once.
  • After that click on the To update button, and then click Breakafter a few seconds.
  • Close the launcher properly and make sure it’s not running in the background. You can also check if it is running in the system tray and close it from there as well.
To update genshin impact 2.7 manually, you need to make sure that the launcher is not activated during this step
Quit Genshin Impact from the system tray
  • Now go to the following location
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\
  • Delete all at this point .zip_tmp files (temp Files downloaded when you clicked the To update button)
  • Copy the files you downloaded earlier in the Required Downloads heading and paste them in the following location (the patch file for 2.7 and the audio files)
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\ (or wherever the game is installed, just make sure it is in the Genshin Impact Game folder)
  • After completing the above steps, run the launcher again and it will appear preinstallation done/To update (See below)

These are the steps you need to follow to manually update the title from version 2.6 to version 2.7.

Important things to consider

  • DO NOT EXTRACT THE FILES. This is very important if you want to keep playing until the update is live. Please do not unzip the files, otherwise you will not be able to play the game until patch 2.7 is live
  • preinstallation done means you can continue playing the game until the patch (2.7) is live
  • If you follow this guide after the update 2.7 went live, they say To update Instead of preinstallation done. Click on it and it will install these downloaded files
  • The files provided in this guide will be downloaded direct out MiHoYo servers. This means that these are completely safe and come from the developers themselves.

We hope this guide was helpful and you were able to update to Genshin Impact 2.7 manually. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below.
