Huawei Mate 60 with 6.69-inch LTPO OLED display, launch of satellite news: price, specifications

Huawei Mate 60 was launched in China on Thursday (31 August). The new phone is the successor to the Huawei Mate 50 that launched in September last year and will be offered in four different color options. Huawei offers the Huawei Mate 60 a 6.69-inch LTPO OLED screen with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The display is also equipped with Kunlun glass protection. The Huawei Mate 60 supports satellite news in China and has an IP68 waterproof construction. The handset packs a 4,750mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.

The 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant of the Huawei Mate 60 costs CNY 5,999 (about Rs. 68,500). Pricing details for the 12GB RAM + 512GB and 12GB RAM + 1TB storage models have not yet been announced. The handset is currently listed on the company’s website in South Waxy Purple, White Sand Silver, Yachuan Green and Yachuan Black (translated from Chinese) color options.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro was launched earlier this week with a price tag of 6,999 CNY (about 79,400 rupees) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model.
Specifications of the Huawei Mate 60
The dual SIM (nano) Huawei Mate 60 runs Harmony OS 4 and features a 6.69-inch LTPO OLED display (1216 x 2688 pixels) with up to 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, 300 Hz touch sampling rate and 1440 Hz PWM dimming. The screen also features a Kunlun glass protector. Unfortunately, Huawei hasn’t announced the chipset that the new handset uses. It has 12GB of RAM.
For photos and videos, the Huawei Mate 60 has a triple rear camera, combining a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.4 lens and OIS support (optical image stabilization) and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 lens and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with f/3.4 aperture and OIS support. For selfies and video chats, there’s a single 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 lens on the front.
The Huawei Mate 60 is available with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of onboard storage. The handset offers a new two-way BeiDou satellite news feature that allows users to send and receive news via satellite.
Other connectivity options on the Huawei Mate 60 include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port for charging. Sensors onboard include a gravity sensor, infrared (IR) sensor, hall sensor, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, color temperature sensor, and a proximity sensor. There is also a fingerprint scanner integrated into the display for authentication.
Huawei packed a 4,750Ah battery into the Huawei Mate 60 that supports 66W fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging and reverse wireless charging. It is IP68 certified for water resistance. It measures 161.4 x 76 x 7.95mm and weighs around 209 grams.
