Hugh Jackman shares Ryan Reynolds’ tribute to Stan Lee on the comics legend’s 100th birthday

It is Stan Lee’s today birthday and Hugh Jackmanlike Ryan ReynoldsHe takes his hat off to the legendary comic book author.

In an Instagram story celebrating Lee’s 100th birthday, Jackman shared a post that Reynalds added to his page featuring the three superhero icons speaking at a Comic-Con event. In the photo, Jackman and Reynolds can both be seen smiling as Lee addresses the audience and the look of admiration is evident on Jackman’s face.

Lee died of respiratory and heart failure in 2018 just a month before his 96th birthday. His imagination is responsible for some of the most iconic superheroes of all time such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and the X-Men. In addition to his incredible influence on comics and the superhero world, Lee has also personalized over two dozen MCU films with guest appearances of himself in everything from a FedEx delivery man to a truck driver. He was even honored posthumously Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

Both Reynolds and Jackman have played Marvel superheroes as Wolverine and Deadpool, respectively, since 2000 and 2016, respectively. They have always been part of the Marvel Comic Universe, but remained exclusive to the Marvel Cinematic Universe until Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019.

In 2024, both Jackman and Reynolds will officially join the MCU dead pool 3with Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine after retiring from the character with the 2017 film logan.

Always a fan of Lee, Jackman paid tribute to the comic book legend shortly after his death in 2018 and shared a few words The late show with Stephen Colbert. “Let me just say to the family and legion of fans that I remember Stan as a true gentleman who had that sparkle in his eye,” Jackman said. “He’s a creative genius. He thought outside the box. He created an entire universe that changed the lives of many people, including mine.”

Jackman even shared a story about the time he was on the red carpet at Comic-Con and felt like he was going to draw a lot of attention as Wolverine. “Nobody took my picture because Stan Lee was on the other end,” he said. “There were about three hundred photographers and interviewers, all on Stan… Stan, bless you, you’re one of the greats.”
