In Disenchanted, Amy Adams returns for fairytale musical fun on Disney+

LOS ANGELES — “Disenchanted” is a sequel that has been a long time coming.

The original film Enchanted was released in 2007. Now Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are back with some old friends and some new enemies to let us know what happened in their fairytale world.

“Disenchanted” lets us talk to Giselle and Robert and their growing family. They move from Manhattan to a quiet suburban community in search of a more fairytale life.

But they soon find that Suburbia is not at all what they expected. Giselle turns to a little magic for help, but it inadvertently reveals a dark side she’s never seen before!

The “Twist” offered Adams a lot of fun “back and forth” between good and evil.

“It was like acting gymnastics. And it was so much fun – the flip flops,” Adams said. “It was so much fun when she talks to herself. It feels very weird doing it…once I got it in my skin I had so much fun with it.”

Maya Rudolph joins the cast as the not-so-nice “queen bee” of the new small town. Good, bad, whatever. Rudolph just likes to do what she loves.

“It’s like what you really picture when you daydream, ‘I want to be in musicals!'” Rudolph said.

Newcomer Gabriella Baldaccino plays Adams’ stepdaughter. She was intimately familiar with the world of the original Enchanted.

“I was about five or six years old when the movie came out. I got to see it in theaters,” Baldaccino said. “I watched it a million times, it was probably my favorite movie. Being here now was just crazy and overwhelming and I don’t think my little self would be able to handle it at all.”

Disenchanted debuts on Disney+ on Friday, November 18th.
