Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Gets Heartbreaking First Trailer

The heartbreaking first trailer is here for the officially titled fifth installment in Lucasfilm’s long-running film franchise. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

The trailer features Harrison Ford’s Indy, who looks quite manly for an 80-year-old actor, even in the scenes where his character isn’t subject to computer-generated digital aging. That’s right, there are quite a few clips of Indy in his younger days where some of the action may take place either through flashbacks or otherwise (time travel?).

Or maybe the central MacGuffin is some kind of fountain of youth. To be honest, we don’t know many details about the plot of the film at this point. But the James Mangold-directed film will feature Mads Mikkelsen as a character who is a Nazi who has been working at NASA since the midst of the 1960s space race.

One thing is clear, there are plenty of scenes where Indy kicks butt and cracks that classic whip. There’s even a few shots of Indy looking badass while riding a horse and keeping those Nazi baddies at bay, just like in the classic movies.

Even before the trailer was released, the first shots of Ford in his iconic role was leaked from his Disney premiere at CCXP, Brazil’s annual entertainment fair, earlier Wednesday.

The short clip showed Indy picking up his signature fedora from the ground and then staring off into the distance, and was featured as part of a sizzle reel of the house mouse’s upcoming projects. The clip was shared by a Twitter user who appeared to be present at the event.

After the clip surfaced, a lot of love was shown to everyone’s favorite archeology professor who works part-time as an adventurer.

Other footage from the Sizzle reel included clips from Pixar Elementary and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
