The answer to the Wordle Challenge on September 21st is STONE. That, of course, is the last name that everyone above has: Matt Stone, Emma Stone, Oliver Stone and Patsy Stone. It was relatively easy for people today, but a quick look at various social media channels shows that people were still struggling a bit with the second half of the word.
“I can’t believe I did it!” says one player online. And it’s not the only person I’ve seen who said something similar; STONE seems to be a fairly common starting word for some people – perhaps even better than ARISE (at least if you want to focus more on common consonants than vowels).
For those who didn’t immediately overcome today’s challenge, it appears that the fourth letter was the problem – and that makes sense; Many other letters fit into this slot. Before getting to STONE, people probably took the winding road through STORE, STOLE, STOVE, and maybe even STOKE. And no one wants to go to STOKE, not even the people who live in STOKE. There’s a reason Robbie Williams dropped out.
“I really thought I would do well here,” says one player who got off to a good start but failed three times on the fourth letter before finding the right solution. “Another one that made me think, ‘Oh, I have that.'” Unfortunately not,” says another. After yesterday’s diabolical Wordle answer, we’re hoping that today’s slightly simpler solution paves the way for a simple solution tomorrow.
