Episode 4 of Andor introduced the viewers to a new one war of stars Antagonist named Dedra Meero (Denise Gough). Dedra is an Imperial officer investigating the recent activities of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). While Dedra works for the rogue Empire, Gough says her character will have fans wondering where they place their alliances.
Dedra Meero makes her debut in episode 4 of “Andor”.
Andor is a precursor of Villain One and covers the growing rebellion rising in the galaxy under Empire rule. It revolves around Cassian Andor who debuted in Villain One as a senior soldier in the Rebel Alliance. Andor takes place five years before the events of the film and shows how Cassian joined the rebellion.
The first three episodes follow Cassian as he becomes embroiled in a cataclysmic event that draws the attention of Imperial forces. One Imperial officer who takes an interest in his activities is Dedra Meero, a superior of the Imperial Security Bureau. A less experienced officer compared to her peers, she is ambitious, and her determination could cause trouble for Cassian and his band of rebels.
Denise Gough says her ‘Andor’ villain will make fans question their alliances
In an interview with Screen Rant, Gough talks about her new one war of stars Opponent. The actor says Dedra is someone who feels smarter than those around her and wants to rise above her less able peers. Fans might cheer for her as she’s better at her job than her male counterparts, but it’s important to remember that she’s working for the enemy.
“I think what I love is also what’s really contradictory about Dedra. It’s something new, isn’t it, to have a woman in this world and in this part. A part of you – and I know a lot of women who see it will say, ‘Oh my god go sister! You’re doing so well.” And then you have to remember that she’s a fascist. On the one hand you want a woman to be successful in a man’s world, but it’s like, ‘No, it’s the wrong world. We don’t want that.’ It should make you feel a bit uncomfortable with your alliances.”
While she may be a sympathetic antagonist, she doesn’t seem to be using her powers or intelligence for any good. It’s also hard to believe that everyone war of stars Fan would cheer for anyone wearing an Imperial outfit, except maybe Darth Vader.
Will Dedra Meero Star in Rogue One?
Dedra Meero is not Villain One character, so it’s unknown what happens to her character within the war of stars Universe. However, Denise Gough says she knows what is happening to Dedra Andor Season 2 but doesn’t know what she’s doing during the events of Villain One.
“I know the journey through Season 2, but I’m not in the film. Beyond that, I don’t have to worry. I’m just kind of intrigued by where they go either together or individually. All I know is that she has a long journey ahead of her, but we can’t and wouldn’t want to rewrite the film. I’m very interested in episode 24. How come…? Maybe they went on vacation or something and that’s why they miss it [Rogue One]. And then we get a spinoff; this is what may be on the horizon for us. A spin-off of a beautiful family drama.”
Andor is streaming on Disney+.
