Jalen Reagor Mourns ‘Right Hand’ Jeff Gladney After Sudden Death

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor took to social media to mourn the loss of St. Louis Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney, who died unexpectedly Monday.

Reagor took to Twitter Monday morning and wrote: “I lost my brother, my best friend, my right hand man…can’t take much more man damn it!

“RIP Jeff Gladney brother please take care of me.”

He followed with a series of tweetswrote, “I couldn’t find the words…I just lost my best friend” and “I was just trying to get my head around…Jeff you hurt me so bad with this.”

“None of this makes sense,” he wrote in another, followed by, “My best friend man… my best friend.”

Gladney, 25, died in a car accident early Monday morning, his agent Brian Overstreet confirmed. According to a report by NBC Sports, news of Gladney’s death was first discovered through Reagor’s Twitter posts.

Overstreet told that Fort Worth Star Telegram“We ask for prayers for family and privacy at this most difficult time.”

Gladney and Reagor played soccer together at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Gladney finished his career with the TCU Frogs with 43 pass defenses, five interceptions and six tackles for loss. Gladney was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 31st pick overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He played all 16 games for the Vikings in 2020, including 15 starts, before signing with the Cardinals in March of that year.

That The Minnesota Vikings tweeted on Monday: “We are saddened by the tragic death of former Viking Jeff Gladney. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, the Arizona Cardinals organization and Jeff’s current and former teammates and coaches who are also deeply mourning his lost life to come.”

And a statement from the Arizona Cardinals read: “We are devastated to learn of Jeff Gladney’s death. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and all who are mourning this tremendous loss.”

Cardinals defensive late JJ Watt wrote“Terrible news to hear this morning. Simply tragic. Rest In Peace Jeff.”

And Seattle Seahawks defensive end LJ Collier wrote on Twitter“Man no way RIP Jeff man I saw him go from scout team to team captain and first round selection. Jeff was a good friend and great teammate. Miss you family RIP Jeff.”

Gladney came under fire last August after he was accused of “deliberately, knowingly and recklessly” putting pressure on a former girlfriend’s neck and throat, leading to a domestic violence charge, but a Texas court unanimously found him not guilty .

Other recent NFL losses include Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was killed earlier this April after being hit by a truck, and Glenn Foster Jr., a former New Orleans Saints player, who died in December after being hit by a truck had been detained in custody by Alabama authorities.
