James Gunn explains why The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special is a “Trojan Horse”.

filmmakers James Gunn shared that The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special contains revelations about the upcoming cinema blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

According to Deadline, Gunn revealed that the celebratory one-off provided an opportunity to introduce fans to new additions to the story, allowing the upcoming film to focus on the narrative.

“I used the Christmas special as an opportunity to introduce some elements guardians of the galaxy, so I didn’t have to explain them at the beginning volume 3. It was a Trojan horse.”

He also explained that the holiday special would keep fans updated on Nebula’s (Karen Gillan) status in the group hierarchy, the Guardians’ new headquarters and Cosmo the Spacedog’s relationship with Knowhere.

The biggest revelation in the Christmas special, however, is that Peter and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) are half-siblings who share the same father, Ego (Kurt Russell). There’s also the implication that there could be a sequel to the Christmas special at a later date.

In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Kraglin Obfonteri (Sean Gunn) tells the story of how Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) ruined a young Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) Christmas holiday. To cheer up their boyfriend, the lovable band of misfits decide to give Peter the gift of the presence of a celebrity he looked up to growing up.

The Christmas special was well received by the fans. There’s an endearing sense of family among the Wardens that’s heartwarming to see as the holiday season approaches, and the story is as funny as it is beautiful. In the community of cosmic misfits, Star-Lord has finally found a home.
